Ye as it so happens, turns out magicavoxel doesn't offer fine turning in the model selection mode, I was hoping to rig the whole character together there, but that seems impossible there, I have blender, but I'm going to have to learn to use it's odd control scheme. I also can't seem to export the color of my voxel models into OBJ files (which is the only 3d format I am familiar with) So I may have to further segment the design, only two more, but I've got about 13 segments already and that is going to be annoying.


I do have other options for the assembly however, Tinkercad is a pretty easy program I am mostly familiar with.


Meanwhile however, I have been hard at work expanding the stories of "MENACE MAN" with three completed short stories and a fourth one half way through the works, I aim for 6 or 10 of these stories, as that will be great for my plans of stuff that can potentially be made later. (scenes and art of the character, comics, game mods, games.)


Infact I'll link three of the stories I've already made in this blog post here, and plan on making an compendium or collection (basicly the same term in this context) staring Menace man, Bass, another four characters I'll leave to you who may read it.


I'll give a quick summary of the two characters while I'm here.


Menace man: A refited Sniper-joe robot made into the first of a line of less durrable and powerful, but more intelligent and adaptable robots called the "Marksman-Joe" who through a mixture of novel design, learning and simply being in the right place at the right time Lasts far longer and grows modestly capable given his budget design. Made as a gladiator and racer with unintentionally flexible directives, No stranger to trash talk, but sportsmanlike otherwise.


Bass: The one, the Only SWN -01 (special Wily number) and self proclaimed arch rival of Megaman, who's sole goal is to be or become the most powerful robot in existence. Though humbled and defeated before, an unbreakable determination (thanks to his programming), witt and adaptability paired with newfound autonomy and a lack of his former nemesis, Bass is almost ruthless, arrogant but justified and newly unleashed. Now why would he associate with a "weak" robot like Menace man?

One month later and I'm finally covering new territory in my work, the body of my project Character "Pondking" that being I've created legs and a waist for the character, which is half the struggle of getting the first fully assembled render of Pondking. I've posted pictures of the character's head renders, and have various other editor mode and proper renders ready to be posted, which I'll need to remember to do. (I'd link the stuff, but I'm too tired RN, just check my profile)


I'm very glad I've been able to get any thing like this done, mostly because working in 2D hasn't garnered very many satisfying results for me, I just neeed those realized angles and I didn't have the dedication to find a tutorial or figure it out myself when I knew consistent and modern 3D voxel programs exist.


I'll still need to make the individual limbs separate and attach stubs that'll make clipping the parts together look good, but having a neutral "T" or "A" pose to work off (and ASSERT DOMINANCE) just makes sense and feels good to realize and make.


I've also got to gennerate a proper pallet for the character, as I am currently using one of the default color pallets, it's not bad, but it's not the varied hues of green I'm looking for.


I will almost certainly be basing two more characters models almost directly off the final product, after all if something is made well, it can be remade and varied to inherent a lot of good stuff. one such will most certainly be a new version of the character I've already already posted, Sencillo.

Yo so, great news on my end, new computer as the title says, Means I can now get them voxel tools I've been lookin at for a while, BEST THING YET! I'll be posting pictures of what I make and maybe even som dem goood raw voxel files for yall to use.


My first plan is to get alot of the "Pondking/Menace Man" stuff I've got as sprites made into voxel stuff. Soooo fun.


Otherwise, no new art to post on my end, Have a good one Newgrounds, I know I will.

The one piece of work that has remained consistent through out my time using the piskel online tool for work, is the helmet/head sprite that I posted, Its stayed that way for two reasons.

A. I put the most work into it. Based it off of an IRL racing helmet, images of which I researched over either duckduckgo or google images, I can't say for sure which as I last tinkered with that phase about 1 whole year ago.

and

B. I've also been using it's framework as a basis for other similar designs and expectantly isn't very useful for designs that are helmet less. (not that I am good at drawing any kind of hair to begin with.

I will say one thing though, I've certainly hampered myself enough trying to figure out how to use it with some other concept artwork I've made, as the scale is very annoying, what being close to only 32 pixels.

Well Nuts to me I guess, Can't find any satisfactory Voxel editor, so I guess I'm going back to screwing around with less complex things, along with 2d sprites.


On the other hand, at least I've been tinkering with the 2D versions still so they look nice.


Still have to figure out how I'm going to better distinguish Pondking/Menance Man from the normal sniper joe, can't go overboard and I want to keep the color pallet below 40, eesh.


On the other hand I've written a more typical and readable story.


Here's an Excerpt


"Zander was standing at the sidelines, watching the Race along with every other pair of eyes focused on the two Robot Racers at the front, Sencillo and Pondking. The hard turn approached, Sencillo made was the first to react, quick as always the violet machine flicked the steering left, water coming up in flourish with Pondking quickly doing the same.


The dark green grip hand of Pondking revved the engine of his Wavebike just enough to come to the right of Sencillo, then took his foot off long enough to kick Sencillos’ right arm. This sent the other bike and its rider careening into track buoy line, followed by getting hit by two other racers who joined the robot tangled in the buoys.

The Crowd roared almost as much as the announcer, “There’s the Second time that Robot has to pull a stunt ladies and gentlemen and woo boy I would not want to be in that crash crowd”, Pondking kept speed, took a large turn spraying water so far to the right it almost touched the bleachers.


“You people paid good money for some thrills didn’t you? Well here they are now, Pondking takes the lead with a company close behind but with Sencillo, Pickles-o-plenty and Met-speed in the deep end, I don’t think they’ll catch up.”


Just so everyone knows, if you would like to get in on this stuff and provide feedback, I'd gladly provide a sprite or two along with some more written material.

Hello Folks, I've been Busy working on Pondking's over all design, and I've come to the conclusion that Voxel is the way to go with for any more work I'll be doing on Pondking as a character.


To clarify for anyone just picking this up, I've basing this off the Megaman series and consider it fan stuff that I might end up doing at some point.


Heres the best sprite sheet for him I've made so far!

So heres a question where in this day and age is a guy supposed to get a good voxel editor? or even use Troxel? Cause frankly I've had pretty bad luck with both.

Hello newgrounds, tis I, a bloke with some ideas on perhaps just a fun mega-man fan game, or maybe web comic/online comic series, or if at least anything, some feed back on an idea.


The title is Pondking, relating to the not so ambitious, or even super original idea of whole thing, which I've put some thought into as a pray-chance, if at least interesting idea.


if you've read this far, Thanks! I guess you're interested, it's going to get paragraph-esq from here.


the Essential story/Idea of Pondking follows that of a modified Sniper joe unit as it races, fights and adapts within it's limited physical and programmed capacities.


Further interested? Great!


As far as I've thought through, there are at most 5 arcs, each focused on a section of lore in the mega-man universe that isn't very fleshed out, isn't considered cannon or is just a nice excuse to make awesome art (in written, Drawn or if you're that ambitious and have that much free time on your hands) based on such things.


I've got a Google Doc with a rough outline of the first arc, (Said google document) and if it's got some of the stuff you like then free to Message me and we'll start talkin about the other stuff I've got written and the few bits of art I've cobbled together.


speaking of art, I'm mostly looking making sprites similar to the mega-man 7-8 style.
